Try Lodge inside Grand Canyon

I am not sure how much you want to spend on hotels.
If you don't mind spending between $100 ~ $150 per night, check https://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/lodging-289.html, they have information for lodges inside Grand Canyon. We stayed at Yavapai Lodge before. It is very convenient for getting up early and watching sun rise because we were already right in the park.
They may cost more than holiday inn, but think about the time and energy you saved.
