We did. In lieu of a full post, a brief answer is: go to Yellowknife, the capital of Aurora viewing. The best time is at equinox (late March or Sept). Winter is too cold there, and summer night may be too short (62 north parallel). Try to stay for 2-3 nights, since the activity varies every day. Of course one needs to use manual mode of the camera plus a tripod...
