Don't know if you are in US or Canada. If in US, there's this program called WIC that you can get assistance (similar to food stamp) for baby formula, eggs, milk, and other food for new baby. You can search the details if type WIC program online. Also, you do not have to be a citizen or have green card to apply. Also in US, pregnancy doesn't protect you from being laid off. But you are protected for at least 3 months after you give birth. It's called FMLA law. Again, I don't know if that applies to people with Visas.
