Need help, very urgent

I filed my I131 AP almost 2 months ago and haven't rec'd approval yet, but got a RFE 3 weeks for a few missing info on the form and my lawyer sent back to them and now it says process has been resumed.
But, my company is asking me to go back to China on Dec 24th. My question is: is it ok for me to go back without AP in hand and have my lawyer send it to my Chinese address while i'm in China?
I know ppl asked this before, i know it's suggested to have AP before leaving US but just wanna know why isn't it a good idea to go back w/o AP and have it mailed to me?
