started. Imagining if he finish the job half way. Find another builder. Not every one like him. Ask other people if they could recommend one for you. When we did the conservertory, we used the builder who did our neighbours extension. He worked very hard.We trusted him and paid him cash for all the work. My experience tell me your builder wants to charge you for design is totally wrong. We were thinking doing loft extension a few months ago. we paid for the designer after we got the design paper work, then paid for the application fee for the council. Although we had all paper work ready and a few quotes from builder, we decide not to go ahead because it seems not worth it to add two rooms and a shower room upstairs for 40000 ( ours is a bungelow ). we might change to a bigger house if the house price keeps falling. More important I can't imagine me and my baby at home with the building work going on for about 2 months.
