Going to buy HDTV, please advise. Thx!

Going to purchase a HDTV. I'm interested in several products:

#1: Samsung 40" LCD 1080p HDTV ($799)

#2: Samsung 50" Plasma 720p HDTV ($799)

Any suggestion that which one is better?

By the way, generally, is LCD better than Plasma?
