The reason (美国的印度人比在美国的中国人混得好) is

美国的印度人 speak English better than 在美国的中国人. I was told by my india classmate, they use English books as text books and teachers have to use English to give his students a lectures in college level class. So, most india can speak pretty good English when they are studying in US. Althou most of indias have strong accent, americans still can communicate with them. At the end of 80s, most Chinese student could read and write English, but had difficulties hearing and speaking it. They had less chances to get a promotion. As result, we go to job interviews, we see too many india managers, rarely see chinses managers. Plus those chinses managers only like those people from the schools they atteneded or cities they came from.
