Do you think 赫鲁晓夫 dared to help Mao to take Taiwan with Russian fleets and risked the confrontation with the US 7th Fleet? 赫鲁晓夫 was fearful that the Russians would be dragged into war with the US when the bombardment of Jing Mun started. Remember Cuban missile crisis? Who backed down? 赫鲁晓夫 did!
Mao was in no hurry to take Taiwan as long as Chiang remained in control of Taiwan.
