鸡窝里飞金凤凰 is not necessarily always the education from parents.

but rather, the parents who let the child does whatever she/he is happy to do. If the child happens to love school and excels all the way, then the parents might see a 金凤凰. Rarely 金凤凰 is made purely because of the pressure from the parents. Speaking for myself, my mom can't even read, and my father is only home during the week end and never really checked even once my homework; however I'd say many people in my village see me as a 金凤凰 from 鸡窝里.
