Called USCIS

called uscis customer service. The man asked a lot of info from me, finally he said he will send a service request to TSC. AT the end he asked me to write down a reference number and told me in 45 days I will get some result. If not call them again with this reference number.
Is this normal? I noticed in this board people got the answer to wait either 30 days or 60 days, and nobody mentioned a reference number.
I got a wrong service?
