As a bystander, it perplexs me to the hell which side holds back in this stalemate, Da Lai or CCP. CCP has been pre-conditioning any talk with Da Lai with him denouncing any attempt of Tibet independence. On the other hand, the guy has been claiming that he never advocated for Tibet to become independent. He said that he holds that position all the time and never deviated. If independence is a problem, it does not seem to be so in both CCP and Da Lai's positions. What the hell does each side mean?
Why can't they lay out what they want on table for the world to see who is reasonable?
CCP does not seem to be interested in any mediation by 3rd party either. My gut feeling is that the problem lie in CCP. But I am willing to give them benefit of doubt. They got to come clear on their policy through a credible voice. I myself do not believe anything out of Xinhua agency and their franchise networks like CCTVs and newspapers. If a 3rd party like UN or a mutually trustworthy country to both China and West could mediate the dispute, it should be come up with a solution. But China would not be interested in it either because it violates their "no interference with internal affair" religion. Can one see any benefits China gets from this endless stalemate. If there is, they certainly run out fast.
