different. Each has a line of what is too weired for his/her taste. This has to do with the environment that person grew up in, as well as the cultural setting he/she lives in day in and day out.
I can relate to what you said. I feel sometimes those exotic cuisine merely server as an indication of the social status, to those who have no other ways of demonstrating it, or even felling insecure as to have the need to demonstrate it in the first place. Then there are times when people just want to try new stuff for the sake of exploring new things(remember all the weired things you [anybody] did when you were young that you'd swear you won't do today?). Still there are others who just love those dishes which is okay it's up to themselves - they've got that freedom to do so. Yet come to think of it, this seems more or less of a social norm issue-at least the way I see it. It is somewhat personal, and it is somewhat not. I personally don't care what other people eat unless the consumption of that food source poses of threat to human kind and mother earth. I know for myself what's crossing the line, what I might be interested in trying, and what I feel comfortable with. I guess most people do too.
Pork, chicken, veal, crabs, lobsters, fishes, crops, these are totally a different story. Why? For starters, these are not considered "weired" by most people. In other words it is a generally accepted food source for mankind throughout history.
