Memories, yes, lots of them, including many sweet human encounters, often happened in Europe. But never anything that would come back to bite me at midnight or something like that. So I am not sentimental and do not feel touched by the ruins or whatnot. I am more impressed by archetectural, engineering, artful, masterpieces - none of the castles or ruins over there give me that feel. The natural beauty is no comparison to many other parts of the world.
But, since we have not been there (missed it by many occasions due to various excuses), we feel we "have" to go to at least give the place, and us, a fair chance.
So there you have it.
P.S. So many people like the French Quarter of New Orleans - to me, that place is old, dirty, filthy, ... I dont have that "feel". Incidentally, my brother feels exactly the same way.
