485/cp flip flop-there's no bar to process both

you can always file both 485 and cp.
however, once you filed, sometimes cis would consider you abandon aos if they know you are doing cp. this is especially true if you file a 824 with cis. when cis process 824, they will always consider you have abandoned your 485

it'll be inconvenient for you to stay in china while your aos is pending.
i don't know if you use h visa. if not you will apply ap. with ap, sometimes you still have trouble entering US if you stay in china too long.

if you intend to stay in china and your wife intends to stay in america, you can continue your cp while your wife apply aos.
