485 application after leave USA via AP?

I would like to apply another 485 based on one approved 140 (EB2). But I am leaving for China soon via AP (another 485). My attorney will the application after I left for China in July. I am wondering if I can 485 while I was not inside USA. Could not find any document regarding this issue. Expert's help needed. Thanks.
