I think you are talking about renewing EAD, right?
If you do that via mail, as I have done 4 times (for myself and my hu*****and, twice for each), you DON'T need to get FP done. Just send out all of the materials in one envelop, with a checklist inside, and that is all you need to do.
If you e-file, which I have never done, you will be asked to do FP, as I learned from others' experience.
