we use a Panasonic DVD recorder that has an internal HD. It allows us to transfer the tape or DVD to the HD then we can edit and make subtitles for each section.
Sometimes I would make an introduction of the trip with Maps (like doing a Powerpoint presentation, lol), sometimes I would insert a deion segment between each segment when the trip involved several totally unrelated destination (such as Alaska Cruise, Vancouver Island, Yellowstone, all on one single trip).
When the "product" is finalized, burn a DVD. Watch the DVD first to make sure everything is fine, before delete the images from the HD.
Oh, we dont do soundtrack, all the narratives were done while recording. Too much trouble to handle the sound afterward.
