South Florida has a very large concentration of Jewish people

because of traditionally South Florida is the ideal retirement place for many middle class folks in NJ & NY - most of these people were Jews, they were merchants, small business owners, teachers, government employees, ordinary office workers etc

The main reason why when Al Gore ran for President, he had Joe Lieberman as his running mate, is because Lieberman is Jew - the Dem hoped this would help them carry Florida. Unfortunately they were defeated by the "hanging chad" - ironically, the controversial design of the ballot was designed by a Democrat election official at Palm Beach County. Democrats are simply a lot less organized than Republicans.
