Why didn't they just spend the night at Roseburg?! There are tons of motels in the area as it is the gateway to Crater Lake NP.

All the talks about Kim being "hero" made my blood boil - the rescuers are the TRUE HEROS.

Neglecting to point out the obvious WRONGs Kim committed, does not serve the society any good - because others would not learn much from this tradegy. He paid a very dear price for his mistakes - at least, what one would hope is, others would really learn something, by analysis of the DONT's and DO's.

I made posts here before - I dont care how reckless adults can be when they go about their "adventures" - as long as they dont jeopardize others, or cause unnecessary risks to others - such as the rescuers, and indirectly, the associated costs born by the taxpayers. I cannot even imagine how the children could have died because of the reckless actions of their parents. Children are the most heartbreaking case as they have absolutely no choice, but been dragged in all kinds of harm's way because of the very poor judgments of adults.
