We stayed at my brother's place. Our friend and his wife were coming over to pick us up for dinner. He insisted he did not need direction, just the address, because he had GPS.
This was in Mountainview, CA. My brother's subdivision is just next to a freeway exit, and actually has its own lightrail station.
Our friend called after he was 30 min late - he followed GPS and kept turning around and around and around, unable to find the right street to go into the subdivision. We gave him the name of the street just outside the subdivision so he could input into his GPS.
Another 15 min passed, we "walked" him over the phone after figuring out exactly where he was... and he finally found his way to my brother's place.
After dinner, we showed him the way how to drive us home, AND, how to return to the freeway. He did not use GPS and had no problem getting back to freeway.
When it works, GPS is wonderful. When it does not work, it is a nightmare. Problems are, many times it does not work in some very simple situations. Really a puzzle!
