Good to see some real travel diary. Reminds me of my first trip there 21 years ago, when one had to exchange DDR currency 1:1 with that of West Germany, instead of 10:1 in black market. Nevertheless, the East Germans were among the richest in the socialist circle. By the way, the blockade was in 1960s, not right after the WWII.
