I been to Ak 6 times (twice in winter); never seen 北极光

and I have been looking for it. I don't think you should visit Alaska just to see 北极光. You'll be disappointed. Keep in mind, not only 北极光 has to be active, you also need clear uncloudy sky, away from city light.

By the way, 北极光 could also be available in many northern cities in Canada and northern states in the lower 48 states.
