1. The lodging touring and pricing information were all 7-8 years old. I am sure they've gone up.
2. Really really enjoyed the Stan Stephens all day Cruise on Day 3.
3. Day 4 Ferry from Valdez to Whittier is highly recommended. You no longer need to connect to train in Whittier - a tunnel has since been built but do check the tunnel open schedule. Back when I went, you had to take your car to train after getting off ferry. The train will then take you and your car and connect you to the Seward highway. Quite unique and interesting experience but with the tunnel built, it's not needed any more.
4. Drive to Seward and Homer are both beautiful. Exit Glacier in Seward brings you face-to-face to touch a glacier.
5. My favorite lodging: Day 8-9 in the tent cabin on the shore of Nenana River, sleeping in the roaring sound of the river in the middle of nowhere. would not trade it for any 5 star hotels. It is Alaskan to the core!
