What is the point ? Quantity vs Quality ?

For example, I would rather visit Hawaii 5 times than to Nebraska 1 time - though because Nebraska is on I-80, it is inevitably to pass it if you do coast to coast driving on I-80 ...

So what is the point to count how many states you have visited ? (or passed thru, or have been ?)

There are some states that I will never pay a particular visit unless pass by, but there are states I have returned half a dozen times at least ...
