Teotihuagan is located ca 50km to the north-east, reachable by buses from one of the 4 bus terminals in the city. This will take almost a whole day (If it is a Sunday, you may have time afterwards to sit in the Bullfight ring, which is said to be the largest outside Spain). Zocalo is just the centre of the old part of the city, can be accessed by subways.
