I am writing this email on behalf of "Greencard Waiters", a legal immigration group aimed at addressing and resolving employment based immigration problems faced by foreign professionals employed in USA on work visa.
In this email, we want to draw your attention to a severe crisis we are facing in the employment based Green card process.
Every month the US Department of State publishes a Visa Bulletin that informs the prospective immigrant community of the availability of permanent residency visas. These dates determine which cases are eligible for final adjudication. The immigration community in the United States received a shocking and alarming news for the October 2005 Visa Bulletin.

Due to a shortage of Visas, a severe retrogression in all Employment based Categories for some countries, and worldwide retrogression for specific categories will remain for the foreseeable future, according to the Department of State. Some of these priority dates result in inordinate delays of seven or more years in adjudication of green cards. That delay will cause severe psychological and financial hardships to thousands of workers eagerly waiting for their Green Card process to complete. This delay will be on top of the four or six years that many applicants have already experienced. This is frustrating at best, because professionals of the highest quality, tax payers who have contributed to the US and households who brought so many family values to this country are potentially conditioned to live in a "limbo" state for years to come due to such shortage of Visa numbers.
We have initiated efforts to address this high priority issue with the support of some of the best immigration attorneys in the field. To unify this support, we have created a group called "GreenCard Waiters" on yahoo, and are planning to form a formal association. Shortly we will be launching a website for providing a worldwide Internet access on our issues.
