Contract Position: Chemical Engineer

Work Location:  Oil Refineries, Richmond, CA 94801

Contract Duration: 12+ months; 6 months to start

Job Description:       
     
This position is part of Technology Marketing (TEMA) group. TEMA, through a joint venture called CLG, licenses and designs hydroprocessing technologies as well as providing technical and operational support to refineries and third party clients. The Mechanical Process Engineer executes the front end process and mechanical engineering of licensor Engineering Design Packages including hydraulic calculations, line sizing, Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, and process-level equipment datasheet generation for pumps, compressors, furnaces, control valves and other instrumentation.

 Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors’ Degree in Chemical Engineering. Minimum Five years of engineering experience in the design of oil refinery projects. Most or all of the experience should be with a major engineering and construction company.

• Experience must include detailed hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing and piping and instrument diagram development.

 Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in developing and reviewing plot plans, piping and instrument diagrams, equipment drawings and data sheets for high pressure hydrocracking plants is a plus.

• Experience in preliminary pump selection and sizing, equipment specifications and bid tabulations, relief calculations, process design manuals is a plus.

• Experience with COMOS® / SmartPlant® or similar integrated software to develop P&IDs and Equipment Datasheets is a plus. Candidates are expected to continue developing proficiency in use of this software and work towards becoming super user.

• Experience in leading a small team of mechanical process engineers and CAD designers towards completing Engineering Design Packages/Feed packages.

 Job Description:

• Perform day-to-day functions such as PFD, PCD, P&ID generation, selection and sizing of equipment, hydraulic calculations and sizing of piping etc as Mechanical Process Engineer per the established procedures and using standards and tools.

• Learn to use the Plant Engineering software COMOS® to develop PFDs, P&IDs and Equipment Datasheets, interact with Process engineers and CAD operators for completing Engineering Design Packages/Feed packages.

• Complete all mandatory training in time.
