Job Description:
The Financial Analyst (FA) develops project economic analyses and assists operations teams in operational support, proposal development, as well as post contract project financial administration and management. The FA reports to the Manager of Business Unit and Operations Support.
Responsibility Overview
• Utilizes cost and savings data to develop economic models for energy conservation projects, including profitability and cash flow analyses, draw and payment schedules, and other required contract documentations.
• Develops price escalation schedules for multi-year proposals. Provides life cycle costing and other economic and finance tables required for customer proposals.
• Advises project managers and develop solutions for economic constraints within projects.
• Verifies financial data and content for customer proposals. Ensures accurate cost and financing data in customer proposals.
• Coordinates requirements with third party financial providers.
• Responds to questions with internally staff, customers and financial providers. Provides written responses to customer comments.
• Maintains and verifies customer payment/ receivable status. Works internally and externally for proper recording and on-time payment of customer invoices.
• Prepares project cost and other reports to assist operations teams and management in updating project budgets, margin analysis, revenue and margin planning, and other reports as required.
• Provides risk assessments associated with guaranteed savings and other project economic variables.
• Assists operations teams and others in project cost related inquire.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Financial Management, Economics, or equivalent required; with 5+ years of relevant work experience. Master's Degree preferred.
• Demonstrated effective performance in key areas of project economic analysis, cash flow analysis, present & future value calculation and application, life cycle costing,
• Experience in report creation and accounting system interface.
• Strong PC skills with proven ability to learn new applications and previous experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.
• Results-driven and highly motivated with the ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently in a matrix organization.
• Demonstrated ability to influence team decisions and prepare clear written communications.
• Strong analytical, quantitative and investigative skills with attention to detail in complex situations.
• Demonstrated professionalism, productivity, and organization skills are important for success.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Time management skills with the ability to handle a diverse workload with tight time frame requirements and competing resources.
Preferred Qualifications
• Though not required, the FA should have a solid understanding of general Accounting principles and financial reporting practices. The FA will assist the operations teams to manage project budgets and invoice processing.
• Experience in applying project economic theory to projects is desirable.
• Takes extraordinary measures to solve problems and get work done when situation calls for it; deals effectively with complexity, ambiguity and uncertainty.
• Background in the areas of energy conservation, project management and government contracting is desirable.
