Because 孟建峰's education level? Position? or some thing else? So far from the story 孟建峰 did not understand 岳虹 either. Plus 孟建峰 used to treat Yue so badly and he already dated many young girls/ladies, even aked a girl to marry him. Now he turned back to Yue, just due to his bad luck of finding a lady as good as Yue. He pursued Yue again because he realized Yue was more useful to him not because he treasured and cared about Yue. This is just what I got from reading the story. :-(
