Estate Sale Find

I recently bought this at an estate sale here in the US. It's a heavy box with polished brass ( 黄铜 ) edges and brass hinges. The hinges are brazed ( 钎焊 ) or soldered onto the box, and I think the box itself is solid brass. It has a carving made of unknown material on the lid, and a line art sketch on the bottom.
