我查了一下，看到说”A security deposit must be refunded by the landlord to the  tenant within 30 days after the tenant surrenders the premises; however, the  landlord need  not return the deposit until the tenant gives the landlord a  written  statement of the tenant's forwarding address for the purpose of refunding the  deposit. “

这个written statement of forwarding address是必须的吗？我不记得当时有没有给过，因为我们搬到国外，可能没有给。他们退的那部分deposit是转到我们银行账户里的，以前交房租也是每个月转账到他们银行里，没有寄过check什么的。
