The pipes are not stolen, the worst scenario to me is the leakin

Is there a way to find out if the leaking is caused by a open faucet, or it is inside the slab foundation without connecting water? What clues should I check for?

I can not order an inspection until I win the bidding. If I don't know how serious the problem is, I can not come up a reasonable offering price for it.
