２０10年投资年终总结

从股票投资的角度看，今年是不错的一个年份。股市的起伏不算大，最后一个季度股市猛涨，让今年的投资回报看起来相当不错。但当大多数眼睛盯着SP500这个反映美国大型企业的股票指数的时候，要提醒的是今年美国股市的亮点不是这个在投资者眼里最popular的指数，而是美国的中小型企业的股票指数。看看fidelity的SP500指数基金和Extended Market Index Fund的YTD数据（这个数据包括了当年的分红），你就会发现这两个指数之间有将近一倍的差别。再次说明了投资中“分散投资”的重要。

俺年初把投资组合调整了一下，也是想着美国经济开始上升之后，中小型企业上升往往会比大型企业快，而把近50%的portfolio放进了瞄准中型企业的基金。但在投资上俺历来偏保守，没敢进瞄准小型企业的基金。就是瞄准中型企业的基金，俺还是偏重value型。所以，投资回报介入SP500指数基金和Extended Market Index Fund之间。对这个回报俺还是满意的：

自己管理的portfolio: 19。9% annual return.

把不在自己控制之下的pension考虑进去，所有退休计划的投资回报是： 14。6％ annual return。

包括房子等不动产在内的total asset（Net worth)的增长是： 19。0％。

2008年俺自己管理的portfolio跌了40%（以起始一百计算，就剩下60了），2009年涨了40%（回到84），2010年涨19。9%后终于回到原点了。但你看股市的所有指数都离2007年年终的数据差一截呢， 怎么回事？这是因为这几年间在股市低迷的时候放进去的“新钱”的回报远远高于2008年之前就在股市里的“旧钱”。没有这个投入，自然是回不来的。这也说明对普通的投资者，要没有timing股市的本事，还是以Dollar-Cos-Average作为投资的手段为妙。

在基金的选择上，瞄准大型企业的基金是Contrafund,Fidelity Bank portfolio和Brokerage and Investment Management Portfolio。前者表现一直不错，manager算是明星级的，俺拥有这个fund已经多年；后面两个是2008年年初进的。当时是看2007年银行股已经跌了25%才进的，现在回头看还是早了点。从进的时候算起，到目前为止的表现还落后SP500指数基金几个百分点呢。但2010年比SP500指数基金稍好。我还会继续持有。

瞄准中型企业的基金有三个，Fidelity Leverage Company Stock Fund, Low-Priced Stock Fund和Value。Leveraged这个词本身就说明了不少问题，这是我早年在这里推荐过的一个fund,记得Frontline（财娘）买过。这个fund的特点是股市下跌时它跌得比大市很；当股市上涨时它比股市涨得快。2003年有一篇文章介绍过，manager是搞junk bond出身，对这类型的企业比较了解，所以，我一直跟踪，直到2008年下半年才开始买进。 Low-priced fund是Fidelity里不错的一个基金。早年一直想买进但没买的一个重要原因是相对于它瞄准的中型企业来讲，它太大了。后来它就关闭，不对新投资者开放了几年。直到这次crash它变小了，又开放了俺才买进。这个manager是稳健型的，管理这个基金很长时间了，表现不错。而value呢，今年我实际上是卖掉了一些。该基金早年是Money杂志挑选的Money 70 fund，但在2008-2009的crash中表现是比较差的。今年它的管理层进行了大调整，老的manager走了，取而代之的是一长串managers。有点不放心才卖掉一部分的。它2010年的成绩不错，所以，估计还持有的部分暂时不动，给新的manager们一个机会吧。

展望2011，女儿要进大四了，俺终于看到隧道那头的亮光了。2011年还有最后两张她的大学账单要付。但从目前的情况看，明年往股市的投入不会有大的变化。这比女儿上大学前我的预期要好很多。看样子，女儿大学前的所有规划没有浪费时间。理财重在“理”字，在我看来就是规划。要规划好，就得了解美国个人财经相关的知识和税法。知识也是财富啊。
