50 some years old and 220K annual income, just 2.5M asset?  显摆?.  With correct investment strategy, they should have 4M at least.  S&P500 was at 700 level on February 2009 and today it is at 2200 level.  1M investment on February 2009 and you should have 3M today.  Real estate is just another asset class, but it does not give you the same return as equity.  This couple is too heavy on real estate.  Nothing to 显摆 for.
