I have to say that I am completely caught off guard by all the controversial comments generated by my earlier posting. On one hand, I am thrilled that it has received so much attention, yet at the same time, I am a bit upset by some of the negative and non-constructive comments. Now that I have the floor, let me have my voice be heard.
First of all, am I too skinny? Some comments have even gone the extra mile to equate being skinny to being unhealthy. I agree that, for some people, being skinny is an indicator of poor health. But one needs to look at the cause for that skinny physique. It would be if it's a result of intentional starvation or lack of exercise. However, all I can tell you is that the only period of time in my life I tried to lose weight is during part of my college years. Since then I have always eaten to my heart's content and never been purposefully starving myself. In addition, though juggling a full time job and two kids, I have tried to stick to a routine excise schedule. I would think that this is much healthier than those people who constantly struggle with weight issues or starve themselves hoping to get slimmer. So am I too skinny? I don't think so. My genetic makeup determines my body shape. Even having two kids did not change that. For me, anything plumper would be unnatural, though it may be perfectly fine if it's someone else's body. Besides, as I responded to one of the comments, when it comes to thin vs. plump, I would always like to error on the thin side. If someone likes fat ladies, all I can say is "suit yourself" but please don't leave mean spirited comments.
Secondly, am I too old for the clothes? There are two key elements to a dress. One is color, and the other is cut/design. Let's tackle one at a time. In terms of color, we are looking at orange, lime green and white. Can anyone honestly say that all these colors are only appropriate for the young? Now let's look at the styles of the dresses. I agree that the hemlines for the first and the last one are a bit too short, and in fact, I would not be caught in those without the legging outside the house. By the way, I do have gotten quite a few compliments from strangers while in those two dresses (with legging, of course).I took those pictures without the legging only because, perhaps a mistake in hindsight though, I see LT as a family.
One more point I would like to make is that one needs to feel comfortable in whatever she wears. One needs to wear the clothes and not the other way around..
I truly appreciate those behind the friendly comments, and I also truly appreciate those of you who have gone through the trouble to find me examples of your recommendation. And for those who have left malicious comments, I ask you to stay away and you are not welcomed to read my post or blog. If you think you have better taste in clothes and have a better body, then I would say, "bring it on".
Being in an anonymous virtual world does not give anyone the excuse to be rude. I have taken to see LT as a family, thanks to many of the friendly and like-spirited IDs. However, this experience is quite shaking. Reading some of the comments, I could not help debating myself whether I should continue to come here. It's a bit shameful to be among those people who have apparently had very poor upbringing and are seemingly not cultured.
I've decided to post this because of the virtue friendship I have found here and because I would not lower myself to that dispicable level.
