If I need some help with my investment decisions, I will only pay the fee for his/her advises, but not buy products sold by him/her. Anyone with these dual roles, there is a conflict interest. Paying annual 1.5% fee is nuts. If you have a 1M investment asset with him/her, you will pay $15k annually? So your return of 6% of 1M, just have $45k left, why?
Take TigerLady's advise, use Vanguard no load 500 fund, or even better, invest in Vanguard Total Stock Market fund. There are about 3,000 stocks in the fund which reduces your risk significantly against individual stocks. Good luck.
