Usually get a few couple days of commnunity service, and a few couple hundred dollars penalty.

If you think you are innocent, you will go to trial, it need long time to deal with, because only jury can make decision that you are innocent or not.

If you are convicted, it will not be worse, only the same before.

You can say that you are guilty, and you lawyer asked the district attorney to reduce your charge.

Usually it is the first time that you did shoplifting, your charge can be reduced.
