Two weeks ago, I found an apartment (NYC) through an agent. I decide to rent it, so I paid application fee, the first-month rent and one month security deposit to this agent.After I signed the lease agreement, he said the lease agreement will be forwarded to the landlord, who will mail the agreement signed by two parties to me.I thought this sound reasonable at that moment.
After two weeks, I did not receive this agreement and contacted this agent again. But his tone changed, and he said that I will received the signed agreement after I move in this apartment. I feel I may be in big trouble.This agent is a cheater because, in addition to the change in his tone in regard to accessibility to the signed lease agreement,I can't reach the landlord following the contact information he gave me. I am so stupid and naive. Please advice me how to deal with this situation.
BTW, what I have are as follows:
1. His cell phone nubmer;
2. Receipt of application fee and one copy of banking check paid to this
agent;
3. The first page of the agreement without signature;
