Double Tax

I came to company A the end of last year. Company A paid the relocation cost + tax for me. The relocation cost showed up in my 2006 and 2007 W2 form. In the offer letter, it is said that I need to pay back all the money that Company A paid for me if I leave within a year. Now I am considering an offer from company B. Company B offers to give me a sign on bonus to compensate the relocation money I need to pay back to company A. My question:
I will have to pay back company A both the relocation cost and the tax, plus I have to pay a big tax for the sign on bonus from company B, which is intended to offset the relocation payback. It is double tax. Is there a way not to pay double tax for the relocation cost?

Thanks….
Synthia
