ask stp for tax questions

I'm working on H1B at a university. Therefore. my income is exempted from tax based on pub 901. However, I paid $3000 for my hu*****and's tuition last year. I also paid tax for saving interest and gain from stock trading. I'm filing 1040+8833. Do you think can I still claim education credit? Looking forward to your answer. Thank you very much!
