stp, please advise "claim child as dependent"

孩子是在美国出生的，2006年有十个月送回国内入托，我们有绿卡。根据1040的instruction，孩子需要“Lived with you for more than half of 2006.”，显然我们不符合这个要求。但instruction又说“If the child did not live with you for the required time, see Exception to time lived with you on page 21.”

在21页的解释中说“Temporary absences for special circumstances, such as for school, vacation, medical care, military service, or detention in a juvenile facility, count as time lived with you.”

那么我们的情况是，孩子在国内入托(算school?)，应该也算和我们在一起，这样我们可以算他为dependent，我的理解对吗？
