受害者property owner怎样解决Mechanics Lien问题

去年七月八十多岁的父母雇用了ABC公司在自家后院建了一个deck。完工后，父母付全了ABC公司整个deck的价钱也包括了所有材料费和施工费用。但是十月底XYZ公司通过他们的律师要求我们父母付给他们$16000材料费，因为他们没有收到ABC公司该付的材料费，而且ABC公司破产了。到现在，XYZ公司在父母房子上放了一个Mechanics Lien, 如今是Pending status, the lien will be active on 1/16. 父母作为收害者，想听一下专业人士的建议，该怎么保护自己的权益。十分感谢！
