It is your right as a party to go pro se (represent yourself) in the law suit. As long as the defendant does not file a counter claim against you, you may not lose anything other than your litigation expense. However, if the court determines that you file a malicious or frivolous suit (baselss merely for the purpose of harrassing or harming the other party), the court may, upon the defendant's request or in its own initiative, order you to pay the defendant's attorney fee and/or litigation expense.
