In Most of the state, if not all,

wife and kids will be the heir, unless they explicitely disclaim their rights. Another words, parents or siblings have no standing in the surrogate courts and the administrator does not have to and will NOT release any information to them. I have not heard any exception to this general rule. The best way to confirm is to consult a local estate lawyer and it will take less then 5 minutes for you to get the answer.
