遇到赖账的交了钱不给货，怎么办

本人为一位越南华侨问一下，他花了16000美刀买yamaha的船引擎，发票上注明5月交货，不过5个月过去了，买方（老美）一直不答复，唯一回答没钱可还。有什么方法讨回货款，不用请律师呀。16000是他身家性命了。谢谢先
