In China, there is almost no competition among insurance companies, plus the insurance rates are regulated by government.  Most of all, Chinese are not healthy, just go to hospitals in China and look around.  For the past 30 years, the data has shown that the heart disease in China had increased and resulted about 230 million Chinese who have cardiovascular disease.  25% of 1.3 Billion Chinese smoke which is known for causing lung cancer.  You will understand why the catastrophic health insurance premiums are high.
