First of all, I found JNUG/JDST on DQ early this year (maybe in Jan or Feb). That was my first time trading JNUG.
On March 6 (Fri), I already made quite much money on UGAZ/DGAZ, XIV/UVXY, and UWTI/DWTI (a little over 300% gain). I feel so good about myself. I saw JNUG was trading in $40s in late Jan.It was more than a half off, so I used full margin to buy JNUG in after-hour at $19.99. JNUG was closed at $19.59. On Mon, it dropped again. It was a long day and it was dropping all the way to close at $16.50. I didn't sell and no STOP-LOSS set either. I thought it will come back on Tue since it already dropped so much. But, it dropped again on Tue. Around 2:00pm, it was trading at low $13s ($13.16 lowest). I checked my account. More than 75% of funds lost. I was thinking I should cut loss or not in case I lost everything. I told myself, wait and see (at least until the market closed). The good thing is it went back up from the lowest $13.16 to $14.61 in last hour. Still, it is far away from my buy price at $19.99. I thought about SELL ALL, but my gut was telling me to wait one more day. Next day, it went down to $13.25 again. I was very, very stressful. I turned off the computer and went out to get some freah air. Luckily, it went back up in the afternoon and it was closed at $16.67. It was much better. Still, I didn't sell a single share. On Wes, it was my last day to cover the margin call before the brokerage sent me a SELL-OUT letter. I saw it was a STRONG close, so I believed it will open higher on Thur morning. Yes, it did. And, I sold those shares with the margin money around $17.50. I was still losing money, but I got over a half of the money back and I had NO MORE MARGIN. Then, I waited a bout 7 trading days and SOLD ALL in pre-market at $23.12. I got all the money back plus a little gain.
Here, I ain't trying to show how good I'm or how much money I made. I'd like to share this experience about trading 3x is very dangerous if you use FULL MARGIN. Even not and you think it is a good entrance point, it will still drop more. It was dropped about 72% from the highest $48.50 to $13.16. No wonder many people on the board have been saying "NOT TOUCH 3x etfs". This is a great story for your guys to know.
