caribbean cruise question

Dear friends, I plan to bring parents to a caribbean cruise, preferrably a south caribbean one, but I found Barbados requires visa to PRC citizens even on a cruise ship.

Could anyone offer any experience relating to visas to these ports of call on a caribbean cruise? Are they truly required?

I am just worried if I book and won't be able to get onto the ship b/c the visa issue. Thanks!
