In my opinion, this probably would not achieve

what you suggested.

The talk between HR and the original author is restrictively confidential, the content of the talk will never go to the author's boss, otherwise the company will face a considerable penalty and may even criminal charges---and probably the author can retire then and live happily ever after.

It would be better that the author tell the whole truth, nothing else but the whole truth, which will help to get the boss out. After all, what you can lose with a new boss?
