If it is a dealer only auction, it might be OK. Still it's quite a gamble.

Usually when a dealer get in trade-in cars, they let their service techs check first to see if the state and how much service these cars need. The dealer will keep those that need little service for their used car dept. to sell, and wholesale others to some used car dealers or send to dealers-only auctions. The leftovers will be auctioned at public auctions. What make things worse is some individual sellers also sell their cars at public auctions. Why don't they sell their cars at auctions for less? They don't want the potential buyers to check their cars of course. To say it in a dirty way: all hei dian, hei che.
